Welcome to the Zollernalb

… where the Swabian Alb is at its highest! The district of Zollernalb can be found situated half way between Stuttgart and Lake Constance. The famous "Hohenzollern" castle, the symbol of the district and ancestral castle of German emperors, can be seen from afar. The impressive steep Alb precipice divides one of the most beautiful regions of Germany into the lovely Alb foothills and the typical Alb plateau with its idyllic juniper heaths. Numerous well-signposted hiking and cycle routes invite one to actively visit the charming landscape with its unique geological treasures and pure natural beauty. For those seeking culture and historical sites, the district of Zollernalb offers a multitude of adventuresome tours. Besides a variety of museums, exhibitions, theatres and concerts there are many attractive and historically interesting towns and villages where the visitor may wander around or just take a little rest.

How to get there

The district of Zollernalb is situated in the southern part of Germany. It is about 70 km from Stuttgart and 70 km from Lake Constance.

To easily get to the district of Zollernalb by car, you can take the A 81 motorway (exit No. 31, Empfingen/Balingen) or the federal road B 27 (Stuttgart - Tübingen - Balingen - Rottweil) which in the main has two lanes in each direction.

The district of Zollernalb can also be reached by train from Stuttgart in about 75 minutes by means of modern "tilting" trains. The shuttles run every two hours and are scheduled to connect with the most important ICE (Inter City Express) trains.

The international Stuttgart Airport is only about a 45 minute's drive away and can easily be reached by public transport.

Thanks to its central position, the district of Zollernalb is an ideal starting point for trips to other regions. The provincial capital Stuttgart, the Black Forest and Lake Constance are only approximately an hour’s drive away. In less than two hours you will be able to reach our neighbouring countries of France, Switzerland and Austria.
