Nuclear Cellar Museum Haigerloch In 1944/45 an ancient beer cellar situated under the rocks of the castle’s church in Haigerloch served as an experimental laboratory of the Kaiser-Wilhelm Institute for Physics. Scientists of the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Institute in Berlin used this hidden place to carry on with experiments first started in Berlin. It became the site of an unsuccessful nuclear reactor experiment, i. e. to achieve energy in a nuclear reactor. The main attraction of the museum is a copy of the historical nuclear reactor B 8 and explanations thereto. Furthermore the visitor will be informed about the nuclear energy research and its development after World War II.
